When it comes to conception there are many indicators that can determine your chances of conceiving. While some of these indicators require testing by physicians to evaluate, there is one that can easily be used to determine the chances of getting pregnant right now ... your age.

Age is one of the early indicators that are used to determine a woman's chances of conceiving. And more importantly, age combined with the length of time trying to get pregnant women give any direction on if and when looking for a fertility evaluation.

Possible to Get Pregnant at Age

At birth, women will have their entire lifetime supply of eggs. As women age, the quality and quantity of eggs starts to decline. This, coupled with the fact that human reproduction is not the most efficient process, make a key time.

Many are surprised to learn that every month, on average, a woman has only 15 to 20 percent chance of conception. For women in their 20s, their chances of getting pregnant within one year 78 to 86 percent. For women 30-34, their chances of getting pregnant within 1 year was about 63 percent. For women aged 35-39, the chances of conception within 1 year decreased to 52 percent. This figure continues to decline at the age of 40 women, until she reaches menopause, usually between the ages of 48 and 55.

This is not to say that after 12 months of trying, miraculous conception decreases, but that most infertile couples would have been prepared and couples who have no might possibly have some form of infertility

While the woman's age and the related decline in egg quality and quantity-is not always the exact cause of infertility, it is a good indicator that something else might be awry. Infertility is generally defined as the inability to conceive within 12 months for women under the age of 35 and within 6 months for those over the age of 35.

As the old adage says "knowledge is power" and age is the most powerful tool in your arsenal decision making. Many well meaning friends and family members believe themselves will tell you "relax and it will happen." While their intentions are good, their advice may not be entirely accurate.

Use your age to empower you to take proactive steps in building your family. Women under the age of 35 who have been trying for a year (or more than 35 who has been trying for 6 months), must speak with reproductive endocrinology.

Tim Shady Grove Fertility Reproductive Endocrinologists this from a very well-known available for consultation to review your medical history and advise if you need a fertility evaluation. The result of fertility treatments mirror the chances of getting pregnant on your own; as a woman ages, her chances of success began to wane Other reasons take proactive steps to talk with a fertility specialist as soon as you suspect a problem is important.

For many women, in vitro fertilization (IVF) most likely will not be the first treatment choice. In fact, half of all treatment performed at Shady Grove Fertility is a more basic form of intervention is called intrauterine insemination or IUI. The goal of this treatment is to increase the number of sperm reaching the oviduct and then increase the chances of conception. IUI provide sperm profits by giving a head start, but still in need of sperm to reach and fertilize the egg itself.

The purpose of IUI treatment is to increase the conception rate with the fertile population, or approximately 15 to 20 percent per attempt. Age, along with the cause of infertility, will ultimately determine what the chances of success per cycle IUI.Figure 2: Intrauterine insemination pregnancy rates according to age and diagnosis (teal = ovulation disorder / PCOS, orange = unexplained and mild male factor, and = gray diminished ovarian reserve or uterine and tubal factor).

IVF is one of the most talked-about form of fertility treatment because of the high success rate and significant Flirt technology. thornng IVF treatment, the doctor will remove one or more eggs from the ovaries, which are then fertilized by sperm in the embryology laboratory. The embryo develops, usually for 5 or 6 days, and then one or two embryos are then transferred into the uterus where implantation occurs and pregnancy begins

Donor egg treatment is the great equalizer. Treatment with donor eggs is the only option fertility treatment in which the age of the female partner does not affect the result. Treatment is the same process as IVF except the eggs were taken from the donor. Since donors ages 21 to 32 and completely screened, donor egg treatment is the most effective fertility treatments, with 60 percent clinical pregnancy rate per embryo transfer.

I was 41 when I was five failed IVF cycles. Age is one of the early indicators that are used to determine a woman's chances of conceiving. And that is right. I know there are women, 40+ and they happen to get pregnant without even trying ... But unfortunately, the truth is harder to get pregnant when you're over 40. Especially if you have some fertility problems. At birth, the women will have their entire lifetime supply of eggs. As women age, the quality and quantity of eggs starts to decline. I know this is the reason I failed all five cycles. To be honest, I really hope that "the next one will work for sure". Well, it does. I was about to give up ... I'm happy I decided to try again. I have a mitochondrial donation cycle, successful. I am pregnant and expecting a baby of my own! I can not believe it really happened.

My girlfriend and I will try to start a family soon. We are a significant age difference, and we wondered if our age difference would make it difficult trying for a baby? He was 48 I was 23. What are our chances of getting pregnant?

Hi Jane,

Age is a key factor for the female partner when trying to conceive. Women under the age of 35 and who have been trying to conceive for a year or more should contact a fertility specialist.
